Apps that Realtors love

Sure, everybody knows Realtors post on Facebook and even Instagram. But what about the gazillion other apps out there vying for play time? Here’s what members of the Women’s Council of Realtors say they’re actually using.

Evernote

Creates notes, photos, audio and video on the go and stores them in the cloud. Store MLS sheets, listing presentations, contracts and client files and retrieve them in the field.

Homesnap

A home listing site that lets users to snap a photo of any home in the U.S. and get all the details about it (even homes that aren’t for sale). Database includes MLS data, public records and mortgage rates. Sign up for a Realtor profile, snap photos of homes where you sell, and the app will identify you as a local area expert and let app users contact you via email.

GasBuddy

Find the cheapest priced gas near you.

Layout

Creates a photo collage that can be sent to Facebook or Instagram. Use for posting multiple photos of listings or events.

TripLog

This mileage log app can automatically track distance travelled by using GPS or by reading the odometer when it’s plugged into the car. Enter the business use later for IRS reporting.

MagicPlan

Creates a floorplan without measuring. Stand in one place and take a photo of each corner of the room.

Periscope

A live video streaming app, the idea is to broadcast something that’s happening in real time to people who can’t be there. It’s also interactive — viewers can add comments to the stream. Videos expire after 24 hours. Realtors have already used this new Twitter-based app to broadcast open house events.

Slydial

To leave a message for a hot-headed customer, this app lets you bypass the ring on a cell phone call and go directly to voice mail.

TurboScan

Turns a cell phone into a document scanner. Take a photo of a document and store or email it as a .pdf or .jpeg file.

Wunderlist

A to-do list that can be shared. Realtors can use the app for their own tasks, or share a list of items their clients need to perform.

Yelp

It’s not just for finding great restaurants. Yelp is now being used heavily for real estate referrals. Create a Yelp profile and ask clients to submit customer reviews. Then let Yelp users discover you.
