The Bulletin has been a weekly publication for the last four years. After listening to comments from the membership, consulting with JBA staff, reviewing the recommendation of the Long Range Planning Committee, I have decided that The Bulletin will once again be a monthly publication. Publishing monthly, effective this September, will allow JBA Section Chairpersons, JBA Committee Chairpersons and any interested member the opportunity to present articles for the new publication. In fact, I have asked that the Chairpersons of the Sections and Committees commit the Section and Committees to fulfill two tasks in the upcoming year. I have asked that each Section, or Committee where appropriate, submit an article to the Bulletin Editor, Allison Hauser, for publication. The article should relate to a new law, new case or legal trend relative to the Section or issue, debate or project currently before the Committee. Second, I have asked that each Section participate in a CLE Seminar. This request is also appropriate for some Committees. I am currently grouping related Sections in hope that several sections can organize a joint CLE Seminar. The grouping of Sections relieves the smaller Sections of the burden of trying to organize a one-day seminar. These comprehensive seminars will take place in the Fall and Spring.

In September, The Bulletin will follow the traditional format of a feature article highlighting our guest speaker at each monthly Membership Luncheon. Further, The Bulletin will contain three to four articles concerning specific areas of practice. In addition, we will also provide information on law-related sporting events, upcoming Jacksonville Bar Association activities and events, JBA Committees and JBA Sections’ events, the Young Lawyers’ Column, Judicial Profiles, Lawyers in Politics, New JBA Members, New Jacksonville Law Firms, Lawyers’ Volunteer Efforts, Lawyers’ Public and Community Service, and Lawyers Marketplace, where firms and courts may continue to advertise for position openings. We are also returning to the ever popular, and one of my favorites, Humor Page at the end of The Bulletin which we hope you will find amusing and entertaining. Please submit your entries to the Editor or Assistant Editor.

Of course, we will continue the Jacksonville Bar Association’s longstanding relationship with Jim Bailey and the Financial News and Daily Record. We thank the Financial News and Daily Record for its continued, comprehensive coverage of the legal community in The Daily Record. I personally would like to thank Jim Bailey for his continued support in making the upcoming publication a success.

The weekly publication of The Bulletin will end effective the end with this issue. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions about The Bulletin, please feel free to share them with me or the editorial staff of The Bulletin, Allison Hunnicutt Hauser, Editor, and Lauren Parsons Langham, Assistant Editor. As always, I thank the membership for your continued support. Check your mail for the September Edition of The Bulletin.
