• Girl Scouts of Gateway Council Inc. CEO Sandra “Sam” Tysver announced that she plans to retire in June 2013. The council’s board of directors is establishing a search committee to identify CEO candidates. Nona Jones, first vice chair of the board, will lead the search process. Jones, of Gainesville, said the committee will “leverage the recruitment resources of Girl Scouts of the USA” as well as local connections. A formal application process will be announced. Tysver has been the CEO since 1993 and has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management.

• The Hope Haven Children’s Clinic and Family Center board of directors announced new members to its board and to its advisory council.  New board members include Michael Duncan of Volpe, Bajalia, Wickes, Rogerson and Wachs, and Chris Walden, IT director of Flagler Hospital. New advisory council members include Audrey Moran, senior vice president of Social Responsibility and Community Advocacy, Baptist Health; Linda Lanier, former CEO, Jacksonville Children’s Commission; and Public Defender Matt Shirk of the Fourth Judicial Circuit. 

• Correction: The fiscal 2010 sales for Rayonier were incorrect in a story on Page 1 on Monday. They were $1.32 billion. The company operates pulp, but not paper, mills in Fernandina Beach and Jesup, Ga. Also, the company now has land in 10 states and New Zealand.

• The AXIA Public Relations Firm hired Phillip Bergman as its vice president of national public relations. Bergman has more than 20 years of strategic public relations, communications and community relations experience. In the newly created position, Bergman oversees public relations campaigns for AXIA’s national clients.

• Acting City Building Inspection Division Chief Jim Schock is scheduled to speak Friday to the Associated Builders & Contractors Inc. The lunch event is 11:30 a.m. at San Jose Country Club. For information, call 731-1506 or email [email protected]

• QBE First notified the state Monday of a layoff that will affect 81 employees in Jacksonville. In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Notice, QBE reported a layoff date of May 14-Aug. 17. The company, at 8655 Baypine Road, is in the finance and insurance industry. Atlanta-based QBE First is described on its website as a provider of mortgage and auto lender-placed protection solutions, voluntary insurance products, loss mitigation services and customized property tax solutions. It works with mortgage and auto lenders, mortgage servicers, financial institutions and homebuilders. It employs more than 3,200 people nationwide. A spokeswoman did not return a telephone message Monday requesting comment.
