It took quite a crowd to get the job done Monday morning, but Shelby’s, the new coffee shop at the Main Library, is officially open for business. Steven Hicks, Shelby Hicks, Bob Hicks, Mayor John Peyton, Library Director Barbara Gubbin and Library Board of Trustees members Phyllis Tousey, Bill Scheu and Rita Cannon wielded the scissors and snipped the ribbon. Peyton pointed out the coffee shop, ‘Will serve the library and the city well by making Downtown more hospitable and user-friendly” and described the Main Library as “One of the crown jewels” of the Better Jacksonville Plan. “It’s been a long and winding road, but it’s been worth every step,” said shop owner Steven Hicks.
