Dan Dawson, state Senate Majority Office press secretary, will join the JAX Chamber as communications director starting Monday.
Dawson will perform a combination of media and graphic design work, according to the chamber.
According to his dandawson.org blog, Dawson, a Jacksonville native, worked with state Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater as a travel aide and new media director during Atwater's 2010 campaign and later worked on the Jon Huntsman presidential campaign as a manager.
After Huntsman withdrew, he was hired by the Republican Party of Florida as a new media director before moving to his current role as press secretary for the state Senate Majority Office.
Lisa Daniel, former chamber senior director of public relations and communications, joined the United Way of Northeast Florida in mid-July.
