Barberitos to open Southside restaurant in February
Build-out was OK'd for the city's first franchised Barberitos restaurant, which the Athens, Ga.-based chain said would open in February.
Barberitos, A Southwestern Grille & Cantina, will occupy the former Camille's Sidewalk Café space at 4320 Deerwood Lake Parkway, No. 106, in the Deerwood Lake Commons center.
The menu offers burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, salads and more.
The restaurant is near the Publix Super Markets store that anchors the center, which is along Southside Boulevard near Tinseltown.
The city approved a permit for Redsector Inc. to renovate 2,252 square feet of space at a project cost of $150,000.
At least two more Barberitos restaurants are planned in Jacksonville, according to the home franchising office. The locations haven't been determined.
Barberitos.com shows two restaurants in Nassau County — Fernandina Beach and Yulee — and lists the Deerwood Lake Commons location as "coming soon." The two other Jacksonville sites are expected to be "coming soon" but are not identified.
Another Florida restaurant is in Tallahassee.
The company has 49 signed restaurant locations, of which 35 are open for business in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.
