NEFBA’s Government Affairs Committee: The next Government Affairs meeting will be 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, at the NEFBA offices, 103 Century 21 Drive, Suite 100.
Site clearing/tree removal permit bulletin: The city of Jacksonville has issued new guidelines for permit applicants in preparing plans and/or permit applications for site clearing and tree removal permits. The new bulletin can be found at coj.net.

Transportation funding: The Clay County Board of County Commissioners hosted a transportation funding workshop in January. At the workshop, NEFBA member Jerry Agresti presented a plan that would use municipal service benefit units to replace both transportation and school impact fees. The MSBUs would be collected over a 20-year period and could be bondable as opposed to an impact fee, which is not.
Hutchings reappointed as chair: The Clay County Board of County Commissioners selected Commissioner Diane Hutchings to serve as its chair for a second consecutive year. Commissioner Ronnie Robinson will reprise his role as vice chair in 2016.

Staff meeting: The St. Johns Builders Council Government Affairs Subcommittee has been working with St. Johns County staff to begin a quarterly meeting to discuss issues relating to development and building. Topics from the January meeting included the use of gator bags in irrigation plans, counting ponds as open space and street trees. The next meeting will be in the second quarter.
