A member of the JEA executive team will pursue a new path as of Jan. 28.

Chief Public Affairs Officer Teala Milton Johnson has submitted her resignation and it will be reviewed by the JEA board of directors at its Tuesday meeting. If accepted by the board, the resignation will take effect at the end of January.

JEA CEO Jim Dickenson has recommended Bud Para as Milton’s replacement.

The position has the responsibility for JEA’s local, state and federal government relations, local economic development, brand management, media relations and corporate research areas.

“Bud Para’s 30 years of experience at JEA, including nine years as director of legislative affairs, make him well qualified to fill the chief public affairs officer position,” said Dickenson.

Johnson began her career with JEA in September 2001 as vice president of regulatory and legislative services.

Before being hired by JEA, Johnson served as vice president of the state government relations division of Citigroup Inc. in Jacksonville and was responsible for state government relations issues for 10 states in the southeast region.

Johnson has also served as vice president of law and government affairs of AT&T Universal Card Services in Jacksonville; vice president of corporate development of AccuStaff Inc. in Jacksonville; and senior vice president of public affairs of Florida National Bank.

She holds an associate of arts degree in political science from Florida State College at Jacksonville and a certificate from the John F. Kennedy School of Government Senior Managers in Government Program at Harvard University.
