Gov. Rick Scott has appointed Duval County Judge Russell Healey and attorney Marianne Lloyd Aho to the 4th Circuit bench.

Healey, 58, has been a County Court judge since 2002.

He began his legal career as an assistant state attorney from 1981-84. He then practiced criminal law.

Healey received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and law degree from the University of Florida.

He has been an acting circuit judge while presiding over the Michael Dunn murder trial, which has garnered nationwide attention.

Healey fills the vacancy created by the death of Judge Jean Johnson.

“During his twelve years on the Duval County Court bench, Judge Healey has been a consistent advocate for the rule of law and for Florida families,” Scott said in a news release.

Aho, 49, has been a shareholder with Marks Gray since 2008 and began her legal career in 1991. She received her bachelor’s degree from Rice University and her law degree from Florida State University.

She fills a vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Brian Davis to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

“Marianne is an accomplished lawyer with an excellent reputation in Jacksonville’s legal community,” Scott said in the news release.
