While Olympic organizers are having trouble everywhere they go with protesters disrupting their torch run, the Special Olympic torch made its way safely through the streets of downtown Jacksonville Wednesday morning. Security was provided by more than 100 members of the law enforcement community including local, state and federal officers who followed the torch runner from the Police Memorial Building to the Landing. To date, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and other participating agencies have raised more than $7,500 to support the Special Olympic World Summer and Winter Games.
