The Florida Bar is seeking nominations for awards honoring lawyers, judges, law firms and associations that have contributed extraordinary pro bono service.

The deadline for most nominations is Nov. 8., however nominations for the The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Service Award is Aug. 31.

The awards recognize the legal community’s commitment to service and acknowledge the many hours of volunteer counsel and representation performed to help children, victims of human trafficking, the elderly, veterans, disabled people, refugees, the poor and others who are not able to pay for legal assistance.

In 2015-16, Florida Bar members contributed nearly $5.4 million to legal aid organizations and donated more than 1.6 million hours of free legal service.

Bar members, legal aid groups, civic organizations and the public can submit nominations.

Information about the seven award categories and nomination forms are available at floridabar.org/ProBonoAwards.
