Executive Director
Second Harvest North Florida

Mission:
To distribute food to hungry people through our partner agencies and educate the public about the issue of hunger and probable solutions.

Serving Jacksonville:
Since 1979. We are based in Jacksonville.

Those served:
We serve the 17 counties of North Florida – all of Northeast Florida across to the Gulf. In 2011, we distributed more than 20 million pounds of food that created almost 17 million meals.

Biggest challenge:
One, we need more trucks and resources to pick up and deliver food and two, we need more community awareness about the issue of hunger.

Biggest satisfaction:
When I look in the eyes of a hungry child or adult and know that the food they are about to receive is going to make a big difference in their life.

Hometown:
Middlebury, Ind.

First experience with community service :
I volunteered with my church youth group when I was in middle school.

Your job before Second Harvest North Florida:
Founder/owner/managing director of ISF Group, a company founded in Jacksonville to assist nonprofit organizations in their fundraising and awareness building.

Upcoming events :
We encourage companies, individuals and organizations to conduct food drives to collect canned goods that are critical in feeding hungry people. We also do fun Wine in the Warehouse events where you get to see behind-the-scenes action.
