Executive Director, Rodeheaver Boys Ranch

Mission: Rodeheaver Boys Ranch provides a home environment with religious, educational and vocational training for young men who have no home of their own because of difficult living situations, desertion, divorce, death, parental disability or a dysfunctional living environment. Boys must be 14 or younger upon entrance.

Serving Jacksonville: Based in Palatka. Begun in 1950 through the donation of 790 acres by Homer Rodeheaver.

Those served: Serves families in Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

Biggest challenge: We receive no government funds to operate. All funds are gifts.

Biggest satisfaction: Seeing boys mature and receive the educational training they need.

Hometown: Lumpkin, Ga.

First experience with community service: While as a teenager and high school student at Chattanooga Central in Tennessee.

Your job before Rodeheaver Boys Ranch: Youth pastor and co-pastor in Milton for 18 years.

Upcoming events: Oct. 11-13: Palatka Fall Bluegrass Festival.
