Founder and Executive Director, First Coast No More Homeless Pets Inc.

Mission
To end the killing of dogs and cats in shelters, first in the First Coast area and then beyond.

Serving Jacksonville
Founded in Jacksonville in 2002.

Those served
We cover the entire First Coast area and have provided well over 95,000 spay/neuters since 2002. We now perform around 30,000 spay/neuters each year, many of them free for low-income families or other targeted segments of pet populations. Our low-cost veterinary clinic offers veterinary services to everyone at discounted prices and serves nearly 50 people and their pets each day. Our pet

food bank has distributed pet food helping to feed more than 4,000 pets of qualified low-income families. Those need-

ing help getting their pets spayed/neutered can call 425-0005.

We partner with Pet Supermarket to offer kittens and cats for adoption in their retail outlets and have found homes for more than 500 cats since the program began a year ago.

Oct. 15 was the grand re-opening of the Mandarin Pet Adoption Center, which offers pets from the City’s Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective services for adoption. The City was forced to close the location because of budget issues and FCNMHP stepped in to take it over.

Biggest challenge
We have the knowledge and expertise to solve the pet overpopulation issue in Northeast Florida. Our biggest challenge is finding the funding to make it happen.

Biggest satisfaction
A decrease in shelter killing in Duval County from more than 23,000 dogs and cats when I first founded FCNMHP to less than 8,000 this past fiscal year. We are making a real difference but still have a long ways to go.

Hometown
Waterloo, Iowa

First experience with community service
My parents were big on volunteering. They volunteered with Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Police Reserves and with various other organizations.

Your job before FCNMHP
I was district sales manager for Landoll Corp. for 16 years. Landoll is a manufacturer of heavy trailers to haul construction equipment.
