After interviewing 12 applicants on Thursday, the 4th Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission on Friday sent to Gov. Rick Scott the names of six candidates, the maximum that may be submitted.

The commission convened to fill an opening on the bench created when former Circuit Judge Mark Hulsey resigned in January the day before an investigation of allegations of judicial misconduct by the state House of Representatives.

Five are attorneys practicing in Jacksonville, one is a Duval County judge.

Five received their J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, one from the Florida State University College of Law.

They range in age from 37 to 59 years.

Scott must appoint one of the finalists by June 6 – or he can direct the commission to submit additional candidates.
