NEFBA’s Government Affairs Committee: The next Government Affairs meeting is 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 at the NEFBA offices, 103 Century 21 Drive, Suite 100.
School Board endorsement: NEFBA has endorsed former City Councilman Warren Jones (District 5) and Greg Tison (District 7) for two open school board seats. School Board members Cheryl Grymes (District 1) and Ashley Smith Juarez (District 3) were re-elected without opposition.
State House and Senate endorsements: NEFBA finalized its list of endorsed candidates for the Florida Legislature heading into the Aug. 30 primary election. They include Sen. Travis Hutson (District 6), Sheri Treadwell (District 11), Mark Maclean (District 12), Rep. Reggie Fullwood (District 13), Leslie Jean-Bart (District 14), Rep. Jay Fant (District 15), Jason Fischer (District 16), Rep. Travis Cummings (District 18), Leslie Dougher (District 19) and Rep. Paul Renner (District 24). Previously endorsed Senate candidates Aaron Bean, Rob Bradley and Audrey Gibson were re-elected without opposition.

A Better Clay for All of Us: NEFBA and the Clay Builders Council are supporting “A Better Clay for All of Us,” a community group leading the effort to extend the one-cent sales tax. The sales tax extension will be on the Clay County ballot Aug. 30. Currently, the sales tax is scheduled to expire Dec. 31, 2019. Since 1990, the tax has generated about $290 million in revenue.
County Commission endorsements: The Clay Builders Council announced endorsements of two newcomers in the races for County Commission. CBC is supporting Michael Kerekes (District 1) and Geyward Hendry (District 5), who both are running to replace termed-out commissioners. Commissioner Diane Hutchings (District 3) was re-elected without opposition.

County Commission endorsement: The St. Johns Builders Council endorsed Jerry Cameron (District 3) and Henry Dean (District 5) for County Commission. The SJBC previously endorsed County Commissioner Jim Johns (District 1) for re-election.
