"My favorite summer Olympic sport is gymnastics. In a former life, I did floor gymnastics and loved the experience. I know the amount of work I had to put into just the simplest of routines, so I appreciate the skill and dedication those Olympians put into preparing for the beam, floor, bars and rings. They are inspiring."

"Swimming and gymnastics are my favorite summer Olympic events. Team USA always puts on a good show and outperforms so many talented athletes. I especially like to hear the backstories for each athlete — the trials and tribulations that led them to the Olympics. Stories like U.S. swimmer Kathleen Baker’s battle with Crohn’s disease and U.S. gymnast John Orozco’s Achilles injury and mother’s untimely death. Both athletes are very inspiring. I was also impressed by swimmer Lilly King, who called out the Russian swimmer for doping and proceeded to beat her in a race the following day. Winning with integrity ... makes me proud to be an American."

As a Bolles and University of Florida graduate, it would be difficult to not pick swimming as my favorite event when we developed stars like Ryan Murphy, Caeleb Dressel and Ryan Lochte. For the next Olympics, however, I hope the IOC (International Olympic Committee) adopts Bill Murray’s thoughtful suggestion: ‘Every Olympic event should include one average person competing for reference.’
