The St. Augustine Young Professionals Organization’s 11th annual Womanless Beauty Pageant is 7-10 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Mark Lane Florida National Guard Armory at 190 San Marco Ave.
The event will again feature male club members in evening wear, bathing suit and talent competitions. The audience will choose the winner with their wallets.
Each $1 given to a contestant leading up to and during the pageant will count as one vote and will be donated to the charity selected by the contestant.
Proceeds will benefit nonprofits in St. Johns County, including Epic Behavioral Services, Pink Heals, K-9s United, Boys & Girls Club, Special Olympics, The Mahon Foundation and the United Way of St. Johns County.
Since it began, the event has raised more than $100,000 for local organizations. This year’s winner will be crowned Ms. YPO by club President Chris Lucero.

Take a shot to fund ROTC scholarships
The recently renovated Jacksonville Clay Sports at 12125 New Berlin Road will be the site of the third annual Southside Business Men’s Club Charity Clay Shoot.
Proceeds will benefit the club’s Youth Achiever Junior ROTC Scholarship Fund, which provides assistance with college, continuing education costs and uniforms.
The event is 8:30 a.m. Oct. 2.
Cost is $250 for a single shooter, $750 for a team of four and $1,000 for a four-person team and a stand sponsorship.
Title and ammunition sponsorships also are available.
Participants will receive 100 clays, 12- or 20-gauge ammunition and lunch catered by The Stumbling Steer BBQ.

Nominations needed for inaugural LISC awards
Individuals, organizations and government leaders who have made significant contributions to development in Jacksonville’s urban core will be recognized Nov. 17 at the inaugural LISC Jacksonville Community Development Awards.
The breakfast, hosted by the Jacksonville chapter of the Local Initiatives Support Corp., will be at the Jessie Ball duPont Center, with President and CEO of LISC National Maurice Jones serving as keynote speaker.
Nominations for the following categories are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 30:
• Igniter Award: Recognizes an individual or group that served as the catalyst for urban neighborhood revitalization
• Building Block Award: Honors a real estate project that advances an urban core community
• Power of Community Award: For individuals, for-profit and nonprofit businesses or government agencies that have provided leadership in uniting diverse voices to improve the community through programs, initiatives or development
• Champion of Main Street Award: Recognizes an individual or organization that has provided advocacy, leadership and innovation in helping strengthen the city’s urban core communities
• Epic Award: Honors an organization, individual or project that enhances the community and incorporates two or more of the five pillars of Building Sustainable Communities
Submissions will be reviewed by a committee of community representatives. Winners will be notified by Oct. 25.
The LISC Community Development Awards are sponsored by JPMorgan Chase, The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida and the city of Jacksonville.

Maria from "Sesame Street" to headline Junior Achievement event
Former public television star Sonia Manzano will be the keynote speaker at the eighth annual Smart Women Make Change!, a JA Girl$ signature event.
Manzano, who appeared as Maria on the PBS series “Sesame Street” for 44 years, is regarded as one of the first Hispanic characters on national television.
She retired from TV in 2015 and has written several children’s books.
The luncheon is 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Florida Blue Conference Center at 4800 Deerwood Campus Parkway.
It is supported by a grant from the Delores Barr Weaver Forever Event Fund.
The program, part of Junior Achievement in Jacksonville, has since 2006 educated girls and young women in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and career development.
