Randrr, which Gov. Rick Scott announced in June would create up to 200 software development jobs in Jacksonville by 2018, is preparing to expand its presence at Lakeside Two in Flagler Center.
The company will move into about 13,000 square feet in November on the fourth floor and expand after that. Its interim office is on the first floor.
“As we grow, we will take on more space to support our growth,” randrr CEO Terry Terhark said Monday.
He said the company can accommodate up to 65 people in the initial space.
“Assuming that we grow to 200 staff in the near term, we could see taking on significantly more space,” Terhark said.
Scott said the randrr digital platform would add $9 million in capital investment.
In June, the company employed 15 people and planned to add up to 50 employees by the end of this year at its interim offices in Flagler Center.
Terhark said Monday the company has grown to about 30 technical employees and is steadily hiring, mostly technical staff such as software engineers, product professionals and big-data professionals.
He said the company is having “great success” finding and hiring qualified employees.
Terhark said the company was working with the professional community, universities, local government and economic development groups.
He said the company will not seek taxpayer incentives.
To prepare for the November move, Dav-Lin Interior Contractors Inc. will build-out 12,235 square feet for randrr at 12740 Gran Bay Parkway W., No. 2400. The project cost is shown on a permit application at $184,068.
Plans show open office areas, two large conference rooms, a collaboration area, two breakout rooms, a break and gathering area and other functions.
Drawings indicate space for more than 50 employees in the open areas.
Flagler Center, owned by Crocker Partners V Freedom LLC, is south of Old St. Augustine Road between Interstate 95 and Philips Highway.
Scott said randrr chose to set up the app development offices in Florida over Silicon Valley, Ohio and New York because of the area’s workforce and focus on science, technology, engineering and math — or STEM — education.
Terhark said then the team was working to create a platform “that will change the way people and companies connect.”
The company says users can research job opportunities, engage employers and be hired while keeping their privacy intact.
“No more getting profiled by endless headhunters. No more resume black holes. No more wondering where you stand after you express interest in an opportunity. randrr helps people discover their career destiny,” it says.
State corporate records show randrr has been based in Findlay, Ohio, although Terhark said Monday that Jacksonville is now the headquarters and also the technical center.
Jacksonville has proven “to be a community that is welcoming, full of opportunities, as well as very accommodating to a startup,” he said.
CoStar Group reported in July that randrr leased 13,865 square feet in Lakeside Two to serve as its main headquarters.
Jesse Shimp of JLL represented randrr, while Ross Carrier and Mark Montgomery of Avison Young represented the landlords, Investcorp and Crocker Partners.
