From the President: Chet Skinner, Skinner Bros. Realty
Last month my challenge to you was to make a difference and not become complacent about our association’s growth and success.
Thank you for meeting that challenge.
Because of your response, our momentum continues to build as the year progresses. We are past the halfway point and still moving up.
Case in point is the most recent partnership with HabiJax to build and renovate homes for Jacksonville’s elderly, low-income, disabled and most vulnerable citizens.
Like NEFBA presidents before me, I chose the HabiJax Blitz Build as the president’s project.
Our builder members and hundreds of volunteers responded to the challenge and they built 12 homes and Builders Care’s team remodeled six homes June 6-13.
Jacksonville has the distinction of being the No. 1 Habitat for Humanity affiliate in the United States. And our own immediate Past President Rick Morales has the distinction of building Jacksonville’s 2,000th HabiJax home.
The NEFBA-HabiJax relationship and partnership grows stronger each year as we each realize the benefits of working together to help our community by making safe, healthy housing available to many who would not otherwise have access to it.
Momentum also continues on the membership front. It was recently announced NEFBA has been awarded the NAHB Membership Cup for its outstanding efforts to recruit and retain members last year.
Hans Krieg, our member services director, and the passionate members of our inaugural Membership Committee led and motivated current members to reach out to past members, to new companies in town and to companies that may not have thought themselves candidates for NEFBA membership.
Everyone worked hard, we benefitted from their efforts and now it is being recognized nationally. What an achievement!
Finally, I hope you will be able to attend SEBC this year, July 27-30, at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando. It promises to be bigger and better than ever.
NEFBA generally is well represented there, and this show is on its way, if not already there, to becoming the premier industry trade show in the Southeast.
Thank you to all our members and the NEFBA staff for your continuing efforts to grow and strengthen our association.
Sincerely,
Chet Skinner
