Ameris Bank announced today it will open a Northbank branch at 121 Atlantic Place Downtown at 121 W. Forsyth St.

The branch will open this fall and occupy the first floor of the building, historically known as the Atlantic National Bank Building.

Market President Kendall Spencer said the location is “steps away” from its current branch at 100 N. Laura St. Ameris assumed that location upon its acquisition of The Jacksonville Bank, which was based at the building.

Ameris is relocating now that CenterState Bank of Florida is moving its Jacksonville headquarters into the building, including taking the lobby branch.

The 100 North Laura building is at Laura and Forsyth Streets.

Ameris executives said last week the relocated Northbank branch would be similar to its Southbank branch under development.

As a “universal branch,” its design will eliminate teller windows and instead focus on a high-tech and customer-engagement open floor plan in which the bankers will interact one-on-one with customers and offer the newest banking technology.

Ameris Bank President Andy Cheney said the 121 Atlantic Place move symbolizes the bank’s commitment to Downtown Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.

Ameris moved its executive offices from Moultrie, Ga., to Riverplace Tower on Jacksonville’s Southbank. The bank will open a universal branch there as well, piloting the branches Downtown.

Ameris Bank is the largest community bank in Jacksonville by deposit market share.
