The games will continue at the former Latitude 360 entertainment center in Southside.

Texas-based Main Event Entertainment is making a play to take over the former Latitude 360 arcade at 10370 Philips Highway.

Maine Event, with centers in seven states, wants to renovate the 46,177-square-foot structure at a project cost of $4.5 million.

The company and architect Hodges Architecture applied for a permit to renovate the space.

Plans include bowling, a laser-tag arena, arcade games, billiards, a bar and dining areas, which carries on with Latitude 360’s focus but with a substantial renovation.

Latitude 360 closed in January as it faced eviction and financial issues.

Main Event, based in Plano, calls itself the fastest-growing bowling-anchored entertainment center in the country.

Its website shows 30 locations, although none yet in Florida. Its Georgia centers are in Atlanta and Alpharetta. The company says it employs more than 100 people at each center.

A Main Event representative said the company did not have additional information to share.

The property, near The Avenues mall, was built in 1991 and is owned by 30 West Pershing LLC, part of EPR Properties, of Kansas City, Mo.

The permit and plans show Main Event Jacksonville will be a family entertainment center. It hosts non-competitive eight-week bowling leagues during the spring, fall and winter.

It also offers summer camps for children and teenagers from 8-15 with laser tag battles, bowling fundamentals and game play.
