Retired Brig. Gen. Mike Fleming was presented the JAX Chamber’s third annual Rear Adm. Kevin F. Delaney Hall of Fame Award during the organization’s military appreciation lunch.
The recognition honors veterans who have created a positive impact on the Jacksonville community. Delaney was the first to receive it. He died in 2015 and the award was renamed in his honor.
Fleming is Jacksonville University senior vice president of university relations and development. He has held positions such as site leader of Deutsche Bank Jacksonville, assistant adjutant general of the Florida Army National Guard and chief legislative liaison for the National Guard Bureau of the Pentagon.
Week of Valor events continue through Tuesday
The city’s Military and Veterans Affairs Week of Valor will continue to pay homage to service members with the assistance of some partner organizations.
The rundown of events:
• Thursday: A mental health forum hosted by the Department of Veterans Affairs, 9 a.m., Legends Center; a Semper Fidelis Society Observance at 4 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery; and a Providence School Veterans Day Spectacular, 7 p.m., Providence school campus
• Friday: Mayor’s Veterans Day breakfast, 9 a.m., WJCT Studios, and the annual Veterans Day parade, 11:01 a.m. through Downtown
• Sunday: Jacksonville Jaguars Military Appreciation game against the Houston Texans, 1 p.m., EverBank Field
• Tuesday: Military and veterans job and resource fair, 10 a.m., Kingdom Plaza
Military celebrated at Anheuser Busch through Sunday
In honor of Veterans Day, the Anheuser Busch Brewery will offer a free Beer Master Tour to active and retired military members and first responders through Sunday.
Their guests are able to join the tour for $20.
Those who serve or served also will receive a custom Budweiser military coin.
On Saturday, the brewery and First Coast Car Council will host a free show featuring more than 100 classic cars and trucks.
Registration is $25, with proceeds benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities Jacksonville.

Alhambra Theatre & Dining to launch 50th season
Alhambra Theatre & Dining is celebrating its 50th anniversary next year by starting where it all began.
As part of its “Looking back. Looking forward.” theme, the dinner theater will have a three-week run of “Come Blow Your Horn” — the first show performed there in 1967.
The season kicks off Jan. 4 with that throwback show and matching price of $50 for two seats.
The anniversary season will have three veteran actors returning to the Alhambra to star in shows.
Dawn Wells will perform in “Steel Magnolias,” Morgan Fairchild in “Dixie Swim Club” and Tony Triano will reprise his role as Scrooge in “Christmas Carole.”
Wells starred in “Barefoot in the Park” in 1969 and Fairchild was in “The Paisley Convertible” in 1973. Triano last performed at the theater in 2013.

Murphy wins Comfort Keepers franchise award
Kathryn Murphy, a local Comfort Keepers franchise owner, received an operational excellence award from CK Franchising Inc., parent company of the in-home senior care network.
Murphy was one of 13 of the 340-plus franchisees selected for the honor. Recipients are chosen based on client satisfaction and community involvement.
Comfort Keeper provides in-home care for seniors and adults. It has more than 700 locations across the world.
Officials kick off I-95/I-295 interchange project
Gov. Rick Scott and state and local officials last week kicked off the Interstate 95/Interstate 295 North Interchange project to help improve safety and traffic flow. It also will provide better access to Jacksonville Port Authority facilities.
The design and construction cost of the project is slated to be $177 million; the state is investing $103 million.
The Florida Department of Transportation will host an open house from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Oceanway Assembly of God, 12240 Sago Ave. W.
People can meet with project engineers and department representatives to learn more and have their questions answered.
Scott headlining Dec. 8 NAIOP meeting
Gov. Rick Scott will be in town to headline the Dec. 8 quarterly meeting of the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association Northeast Florida Chapter.
Scott is slated to talk about Florida’s economy, the future of the state, Jacksonville’s role, job growth and unemployment among other topics.
Networking begins at 10:45 a.m. with the program scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. The meeting is at the Jacksonville Marriott, 4670 Salisbury Road.

UNF is No. 9 for online education
The University of North Florida was recently recognized by SR Education Group as one of the Top 10 universities in the country for online education at the best value.
The school ranked No. 9 of 25 for academic strength, affordability and providing high-quality online education.
The SR Education Group is a resource for students seeking online education programs that best suit their budget and career goals.
The university placed above the University of Central Florida (No. 11) and Florida International University (No. 15) on the list. Each of the 25 ranked schools have annual tuition rates of $15,000 of less.
Methodology consisted of manually researched, degree-specific tuition rates along with data from the National Center for Education Statistics.
The top three, in order, were the University of Maryland — College Park, University of Washington — Seattle and Cedarville University.

Jacksonville library friends to have 60th anniversary party tonight
The Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library will host a 60th anniversary party at 6:15 p.m. tonight at the Hicks Auditorium of the Main Library.
Mark Woods, longtime Florida Times-Union columnist and author of “Lassoing the Sun: A Year in America’s National Parks,” will be on hand to take questions and sign books.
A reception will follow Woods’ presentation.
