With the impending arrival of Hurricane Matthew along the coast of Florida, the investiture of Duval County Judge Kelly Eckley has been postponed.

The ceremony was scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday at the Duval County Courthouse. It will be rescheduled for some time in December.

Eckley, a former chief assistant statewide prosecutor for the Attorney General’s Office, was appointed to the bench in April by Gov. Rick Scott.

She graduated from Florida State University and the University of Dayton School of Law and first worked as an 11th Circuit assistant state attorney.

Eckley entered private practice four years later before heading back to public office as a prosecutor in 2007. In 2014, she was named chief assistant statewide prosecutor.

She started on the bench June 2.
