Shearwater, a new master-planned residential community on County Road 210, has installed a state-of-the-art playground adjacent to its Kayak Club amenities center and a second playground along the trail leading to a scenic overlook at Trout Creek.
The equipment for both playgrounds was created by Kompan, a Denmark-based company with North American headquarters in Pflugerville, Texas.
The company incorporates principles of early childhood development psychology into design and function.
Jill Flores, Shearwater’s community director, said the company was chosen because developers “believe in their philosophy.”
“With our free range playgrounds, children can create incredible stories as they challenge themselves with climbing, stretching, swinging, sliding, balancing, seesawing and rocking, while turning the playground into whatever their imagination envisions on a particular day,” she said.
To learn more about Shearwater in St. Augustine, visit the amenities information center 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
Visitors can tour models by David Weekley Homes, Lennar, Richmond American Homes and MasterCraft Builder Group any day.
D.S. Ware Homes will soon have model homes available in Shearwater’s new gated neighborhood, The Woodlands.
