Texas-based Main Event Entertainment is hiring for its game center at the former Latitude 360 venue along Philips Highway near The Avenues mall.
A Main Event representative said this morning the Jacksonville center will employ 150 full- and part-time workers and open at year-end.
The city issued a permit Tuesday for an almost $4 million renovation of the building for the Main Event Jacksonville family entertainment center.
Jobs listed on mainevent.com/careers/new-center-opportunity/Jacksonville include technician, culinary manager and restaurant operations manager.
The former Latitude 360, at 10370 Philips Highway, closed in January as it faced eviction and financial issues.
Main Event will renovate the more than 46,000-square-foot structure.
Plans include bowling, a laser-tag arena, arcade games, billiards, a bar and dining areas, which carries on with Latitude 360’s focus.
A.R. Mays Construction Inc. of Arizona is the contractor.
Main Event, based in Plano, calls itself the fastest-growing bowling-anchored entertainment center in the country. It is a subsidiary of Ardent Leisure Group of Australia.
Main Event’s website shows more than 30 locations in more than a dozen states, with hiring for its first Florida locations in Orlando and Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville property was built in 1991 and is owned by 30 West Pershing LLC, part of EPR Properties, of Kansas City, Mo.
Main Event Entertainment’s food options include casual dining featuring American classics, a pizza café and a full bar.
It also offers catering and private rooms for events such as birthday parties, social gatherings, corporate meetings and group functions.
It hosts non-competitive eight-week bowling leagues during the spring, fall and winter. It also offers summer camps for children and teenagers from 8-15 with laser tag battles, bowling fundamentals and game play.
