The Clay County Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday that Doug Conkey resigned as president of the chamber to accept a position at another organization.

The board voted unanimously to appoint Vice President Tresa Calfee as its interim president.

It will initiate a formal search process for a permanent president early next year.

In a statement, board Chair Blain Claypool said under Conkey’s leadership the past four years, the chamber has experienced “significant membership growth and outstanding program development.”

It did not announce Conkey’s new position.

The board also noted Calfee’s chamber experience and her relationships with key regional players. She joined the Clay chamber in July 2014 as vice president. During her tenure as vice president, the group increased its membership to nearly 1,000.

She also oversees the chamber’s day-to- day operations.
