When the ballots go out for The Florida Bar board of governors and the Young Lawyers Division board of governors 2018 elections, four candidates will be seeking election to the 4th Judicial Circuit’s seats – and an incumbent on the YLD board is re-elected without opposition.
Seeking election to The Florida Bar board of governors seat being vacated by Rogers Towers Managing Director Fred Franklin, who is not seeking re-election, are W. Braxton Gillam and Michael Fox Orr.
Gillam, a shareholder at Milam Howard Nicandri Gillam and Renner, is a past president of The Jacksonville Bar Association and its Young Lawyers Section. He also is a former chair of the Jacksonville Ethics Commission.
Orr is managing shareholder at Dawson Orr and has served since 2012 on The Jacksonville Bar Association board of governors.
He was president of The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division board in 2013-14 and was president of The JBA Young Lawyers Section board in 2011-12.
Orr also is a past president of the Florida Coastal School of Law Alumni Association.
GrayRobinson associate Ashlea Edwards is declared elected without opposition for the 4th Circuit’s Seat 1 on the Young Lawyers Division board of governors.
She currently serves on The Jacksonville Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section board of governors and the Florida Coastal School of Law alumni board of directors.
Two attorneys are seeking the 4th Circuit’s Seat 2 on the YLD board.
Andrew Scott Jr., an associate at Murphy Anderson, currently serves on the JBA Young Lawyers Section board of governors.
A graduate of the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law, Robert Wohn III is an analyst in the Financial Crimes Compliance Department at the Ernst & Young accounting firm.
He is an ex officio member of The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division board of governors.
Ballots will be emailed or mailed to members of The Florida Bar on or before March 1. Voters will have the option of casting their ballot online in lieu of returning the paper ballot.
Voting will close March 21 and The Florida Bar anticipates certifying the election as soon as March 22.
Board members will be sworn in at the annual Florida Bar Convention June 13-16 at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort.
