Doing some heavy lifting at JaxPort

Stevedores from Seaonus at JaxPort’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal recently moved four 35-ton Caterpillar dump trucks onto a cargo ship bound for a Morton Salt facility in the Bahamas. The trucks will haul salt harvested for water softening and road de-icing, according to a news release. The port’s 100-ton multipurpose whirly crane lifted the vehicles — which are 14 feet tall and 30 feet long — onto the VI-NAIS chartered vessel. The vehicles had been refurbished by a heavy equipment dealer in St. Augustine.
