The city approved permits Friday for General Sign Service to put up four signs — including the name and its “smiley logo” — at 12900 Pecan Park Road. The project cost for the signs is $360,000.
The Seattle-based internet retailer will open two fulfillment centers in Jacksonville – the 1,500-job center for small items in Northwest Jacksonville near Jacksonville International Airport and a 1,200-job warehouse for large items at Cecil Commerce Center in West Jacksonville, according to city incentives legislation.
Those are expected to open this fall in time for the holiday season. Amazon is hiring management and operations jobs for the Northwest Jacksonville center and is expected to start hiring soon for its warehouse.
Warehouse worker pay is expected at $12-$15 an hour.
A 200-job sortation center also is under development in Westside Industrial Park and a delivery station is being prepared in North Jacksonville at Alta Lakes Commerce Center.
Amazon.com has not confirmed those centers.
The Northwest Jacksonville operation is a multilevel, 2.4 million-square-foot building and the Cecil Commerce Center operation is 1 million square feet. Combined, they are a $315 million investment.

Developers applied to the city for a permit to build the 10-story, 308-unit Vista Brooklyn apartment project at 200 Riverside Ave. at a project construction cost of $55 million.
The building will include 14,000 square feet of retail space on the first level and a pool and beer garden on the rooftop.
Bristol Development Group and NAI Hallmark Partners are developing the project, including an eight-level parking deck, on 1.75 acres.
No contractor is specified on the permit application.
GEM Products was cleared to start construction of its headquarters office-warehouse in Flagler Center.
The city issued a permit Friday for D.W. Meyers Construction Inc. to build the 38,400-square-foot project at 12770 Flagler Center Blvd. at a cost of $5.47 million.
Orange Park-based GEM Products said the $10 million project should be completed by early 2018.
It is the first of two phases that will total about 71,000 square feet on 5.36 acres.
The company calls itself one of the world’s leading stainless-steel marine and boat hardware suppliers.
Catalog items include outriggers, hinges, plumbing, deck hardware, rod holders and steering wheels.
Macquarie Holdings USA Inc. won approvals to renovate 8,650 square feet for its expansion in Riverplace Tower on the Downtown Southbank.
The city issued a permit Friday for Brasfield & Gorrie LLC to renovate the space on the fourth floor of the tower at a project cost of $602,778.
The Australia-based financial services company opened in Jacksonville in February 2016 on the fifth floor of the tower at 1301 Riverplace Blvd.
The city and state approved taxpayer incentives of $1.77 million for the initial opening.
A city-state incentives package of $250,000 was approved for the fourth-floor project, which will locate Macquarie’s Corporate Operations Group in Jacksonville and create 50 jobs.
Macquarie said it would invest about $1.7 million in tenant improvements, purchase of IT equipment, furniture and fixtures.
Circle K was OK’d for its convenience store and gas station at 8837 Beach Blvd., near Southside Boulevard.
Auld & White Constructors LLC is the contractor for the $1.02 million project, comprising a 5,301-square-foot convenience store, a 6,622-square-foot fuel canopy and 10 fuel pumps, and a dumpster enclosure.
The store will operate 24 hours a day.
Circle K operates about 70 locations in greater Jacksonville.
A Circle K executive said previously the Beach Boulevard project could be the first new construction since Circle K bought the Kangaroo Express stores.
Area Kangaroo Express stores have been rebranded as Circle K.
