Beaches senior living community opens
Anthem Lakes, a senior living apartment community in Atlantic Beach, welcomed its first residents.
The facility has 91 independent and assisted-living residences and 28 memory-care units.
It is a new concept in senior living that incorporates a vision for wellness enhancement in senior housing on a 14-acre site, according to a news release.
“Loneliness, isolation and depression can easily and slowly develop as people age, almost unobserved,” said David Kirkland, principal and adviser to Anthem Lakes. “Residents almost always improve after a transition to senior housing, often as a result of better nutrition, hydration, medicine management and increased social opportunities.”
The facility at 905 Assisi Lane includes a dog park because, Kirkland said in the release, “Pets can be a meaningful part of wellness, so we welcome pets.”
The four levels of care are independent living, independent plus, assisted living and memory care.
Amenities include a bistro and full bar and a dining room led by chef Veronica Majors, formerly of the University Club.

A grand opening was held last month.
“Our new office offers buyers a convenient setting for real estate consultation and provides sellers with access to a larger pool of buyers who walk into the office looking to purchase a new home or condominium in the area,” said Ann King, broker/manager of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty’s St. Augustine and Murabella offices.
The firm’s other St. Johns County sites are a full-service branch office in SeaGrove Town Center on Florida A1A and a satellite office at Villages of Seloy, a 55-and-up community.
