Cantrell & Morgan Inc. and Stiles Corp. announced last week that their joint venture will break ground early next year on 6 acres for a $14 million, 74,000-square-foot retail project.
Smyrna, Georgia-based Floor & Décor said Wednesday it has no comment.
A marketing specialist said Floor & Décor typically does not release anything until closer to when a store opens.
The flooring products chain matches the description of the project.
Floor & Décor Holdings Inc. operates warehouse-format stores that average 72,000 square feet.
The Cantrell & Morgan and Stiles venture bought the property last month from the Skinner family for $3.95 million. The deed names the buyer as F + D JAX LLC, led by S/CM FD JAX LLC of Fort Lauderdale. Stiles is based in Fort Lauderdale.
The news release did not identify the retailer for the project. The identity also was not included in an application for a Planned Unit Development modification for the project.
The Jacksonville Planning Commission approved a minor modification in September to the site’s Planned Unit Development to accommodate a “proposed retail flooring outlet” of 74,000 square feet.

The site is along Brightman Boulevard, off Interstate 295 next to St. Johns Town Center.
Floor & Décor operates a store at 8102 Blanding Blvd. in the Crossroads Shopping Center in southwest Jacksonville. Site plans show that store is 85,560 square feet.
The publicly traded Floor & Decor calls itself “a highly differentiated, rapidly growing specialty retailer of hard surface flooring and related accessories.”

It operates through its wholly owned subsidiary, Floor and Decor Outlets of America Inc.
As of June 29, it operated 73 warehouse-format stores and one small-format stand-alone store in 17 states and four distribution centers and an e-commerce site.
