The city issued a permit for Splitz of Jacksonville LLC to start work on the former Argyle Circuit City building at 6155 Youngerman Circle for conversion into a bowling alley.
Whitcraft Construction LLC will demolish the 38,000-square-foot interior space at a cost of $100,000.
Splitz says on its bowlsplitz.com site that it is a state-of-the-art entertainment facility that hosts bowling, laser tag, video arcade and a sports bar and grill.
Splitz of Jacksonville LLC paid $3.5 million for the property in late September. The Gainesville-based company bought it from Circuitville LLC of Carle Place, New York. The Circuit City store closed in late 2008.
Site plans are in review for the proposed Gate Express Carwash at 3120 Emerson St. in the Shops of Philips.
The 4,375-square-foot tunnel carwash is planned by Gate Petroleum Co. near its Gate gas station and convenience store in the Shops’ property at Philips Highway and Emerson Street. Prosser Inc. is the civil engineer.
Jacksonville-based Gate expects to open its first express car wash this year at 7059 Collins Crossing in Collins Plaza in Southwest Jacksonville.
GL National Inc. sold property in Kendall Town Center to St. Vincent’s Health System Inc., which intends to develop a Health Center in the Regency-area project.
St. Vincent’s paid almost $1.38 million for 1.58 acres at 9769 Hutchinson Park Drive in a sale that closed Nov. 3.
