On Aug. 31 at Marsh Creek Country Club, the builder participants in the St. Johns County 2017 Parade of Homes gathered to receive the awards and celebrate another successful parade. The SJBC Parade, this year from Sept. 2 to Sept. 17, drew good crowds — even with the disruption caused by Hurricane Irma.

The Parade featured homes in a variety of architectural styles, floorplans and price ranges in new home communities in St. Johns County. Entries ranged in price from $150,000 to $250,000 for townhome options and from $250,000 to more than $1 million for single-family detached dwellings.

In addition to gold and silver winners in each of the price categories, CalAtlantic Homes’ Sterling at Celestina was chosen Pick of the Parade and AV Homes’ Olivia in The Grove at Bannon Lakes was the named the Showcase Home.

St. Johns Builders Council Chairman Sean Junker said although the Parade is a lot of work for builders, it is an event they look forward to each year.

“Months before potential homebuyers drive into a new community and open the door to a brand new home, each builder has spent countless hours preparing for that visit,” Junker said. “From undeveloped land, to permitting, to architects’ drawings, to pouring footers, to putting the final touches on the home, it’s a lot of work. Builders love it, because it gives them an opportunity to bask in the pride of exceptional design, state-of-the-art construction and the latest trends in home furnishings. There’s nothing a craftsman enjoys more than sharing his masterpieces with the public.”

The St. Johns Parade of Homes is an annual production of the builders of the St. Johns Builders Council, a council of the Northeast Florida Builders Association. NEFBA has been serving the industry and citizens of the First Coast for 73 years. NEFBA is the largest local council in Florida, and fifth largest in the nation within the National Association of Home Builders. The St. Johns Builders Council consists of builders, developers, remodelers and associate businesses that provide products and services related to construction and home buyers.
