During October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Duval County Clerk of Courts is partnering with Hubbard House to help raise awareness of the community issue.
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, there were more than 120,000 cases of domestic violence reported in the state last year, including about 5,000 cases in Duval County.
The clerk’s office is collecting donations of nonperishable food and household items for the benefit of domestic violence victims who seek assistance from Hubbard House. The public is invited to participate by dropping off donations in the Domestic Violence Department in Room 2409 at the Duval County Courthouse. The 4th Judicial Circuit’s Family Court Services also is accepting donations.
Clerk personnel will be wearing purple each Wednesday through the end of October as a visible reminder of their support for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
