Duval County employees: A snapshot

Duval County is Florida’s seventh most populous county with almost 5 percent of the state’s population and the dominant job center in Northeast Florida. Its August unemployment rate dropped to 4.4 percent. The state reported that 488,476 people in the county work among 11 industries, as of 2016. Here’s where they work (the chart at left doesn’t include the 0.1 percent working in natural resources and mining) and here’s what they’re paid, on average. Information workers make the most, while trade, transportation and utilities enterprises employ the most people.
