The Judicial Nominating Commission for the 4th Judicial Circuit interviewed 14 applicants to fill the vacancy on the Duval County Court created by the appointment of Judge Lester B. Bass to the Circuit Court.
Following deliberations and consideration of each applicant, the Commission nominated six candidates Gov. Rick Scott to replace Bass:
• Janet Abel, circuit director, Office of Regional Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel.
• 4th Circuit Magistrate Brooke Brady.
• Attorney Michael Fackler.
• Attorney Rhonda Peoples-Waters.
• Assistant State Attorney Erin Perry.
• Court Counsel for the 4th Circuit Julie Taylor.
The nominees now will be interviewed in Tallahassee. Scott may make an appointment before he leaves office on Jan. 7, or if he does not, the appointment will be made by Gov. Ron DeSantis after he takes office.
