Potter's House Soul Food Bistro II intends to move from its East Arlington location at Kernan and Atlantic boulevards to Regency Park in the former Outback Steakhouse.

Angel McLaughlin, chief strategy officer of The Potter's House International Ministries, said the lease was up at 11876 Atlantic Blvd.

Soul Food Bistro opened there Jan. 1, 2013, as the second location for the Potter's House restaurant.

McLaughlin said owners hope to open the new location in the next few months at 9400 Atlantic Blvd. Brixmor Property Group, the Regency Park landlord, lists the restaurant as the tenant of almost 7,800 square feet at the former Outback space.

Outback closed there in late 2016. The city is reviewing a permit application for Covenant Contracting Co. Inc. to renovate the space at a cost of $55,000.

Soul Food Bistro opened almost six year ago at Kernan and Atlantic in the former 7,150-square-foot O'Charley's that was vacated a few years prior. The landlord, Sleiman Enterprises, is listing the 1.39-acre property as available for lease, although a call to the restaurant finds it will remain open until the move.

The new location is 4 miles west.

The menu includes fried and baked chicken, pork chops, fish and other comfort foods, such as butter beans, candied yams, collard greens and macaroni and cheese.

Homemade desserts include sweet potato pie, red velvet cake and peach cobbler.

The Potter's House Christian Fellowship at 5119 Normandy Blvd. in West  Jacksonville opened the Soul Food Bistro in 1998 with the original name of The Potter's House Cafe.

Angel McLaughlin is the daughter of Bishop Vaughn McLaughlin, the pastor.
