The state Supreme Court issued discipline orders for two local attorneys:
Laura Healan Coggin, 76347 Veterans Way in Yulee, was suspended for 18 months, effective 30 days from a Dec. 28 court order. Further, Coggin is directed to attend ethics school. A client authorized Coggin to charge $1,500 to her credit card to represent her in a divorce proceeding. Coggin subsequently made eight additional charges to the card without the client’s permission, totaling $12,000. In another matter, Coggin knowingly overcharged a client by $1,000. Dana Rachel Price, 300 W. Adams St., Suite 600, in Jacksonville, is to be publicly reprimanded following a Dec. 14 court order. Further, Price is directed to contact Florida Lawyers Assistance for an evaluation related to pleading guilty to driving with a suspended license. (Case No. SC17-1502)
The Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association will meet at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at The River Club. The topic will be “Being heard from in front of the Judicial Nominating Commission and beyond,” the fine points of Florida’s process that results in appointment of circuit and county judges.
Presenters will be attorney Michelle Bedoya Barnett, a member of the 4th Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Committee, and Daniel Nordby, general counsel in Gov. Rick Scott’s office.

City Council appointed Smith Hulsey & Busey attorney Lauren Langham to the Jacksonville Housing and Community Development Commission, the designated housing agency for the City of Jacksonville.
Langham is a shareholder in the firm’s real estate and land use group.
Her practice areas include lease review, drafting and negotiation with an emphasis on retail and office, loan work-outs and restructures, foreclosures, purchase and sale contracts and closings and commercial real estate loan documentation.
Commercial real estate lawyer Caroline Nichols joined the Jimerson & Cobb law firm.
A graduate of the University of Georgia for undergraduate and her J.D., Nichols taught real property law at Florida Coastal School of Law for six years before joining Jimerson & Cobb.
