The city approved the $1.5 million renovation of the 27th floor at Riverplace Tower for Ameris Bank. Adams Interior Contractors Inc. is the contractor for the project, which covers almost 14,700 square feet of space on the top full floor of the Southbank tower.
The private University Club closed in December 2016 in the riverfront tower at 1301 Riverplace Blvd.
Ameris anchors the 28-story building and leases the 26th floor. The top floor offers a small space formerly used as the club’s men’s athletic facility.
The 26th and 27th floors will house Ameris Bank’s executive offices.
The city approved build-out Wednesday for Crowley Maritime Corp. at 8200 Nations Way in Cypress Point Business Park.
Holtsinger Construction Inc. is the contractor for the $712,181 project to build-out a 36,000-square-foot building.
Building plans show conference space, huddle rooms, IT, disaster recovery, dining and break rooms, a mother’s room, human resources, procurement and more.
Jacksonville-based Crowley will lease the building for additional space resulting from its growth, such as the award of the U.S. Defense Freight Transportation Services contract.
Crowley subsidiary Crowley Logistics Inc. won a multiyear contract to provide transportation and related services supporting Department of Defense activities in the U.S. and Canada.
A spokesman said in October the space will accommodate about 150 employees in positions supporting government services, finance and other roles.
The St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing a permit modification for David Weekley Homes LLC to develop 222 single-family homes at E-Town off Florida 9B in South Jacksonville.
The applicants are David Weekley Homes, through DRP CND-ICI LLC, and Jacksonville-based E-Town Development Inc. The site is east of the Interstate 295 and Florida 9B intersection.
The project comprises the homes along with roadways, utilities, common areas and stormwater management facilities.
David Weekley Homes, through DRP CND-ICI LLC, bought about 111 acres there Jan. 31.
It is the first builder to buy land for development at E-Town, an emerging mixed-use community off Florida 9B.
The Houston-based homebuilder bought the land for $6 million from Eastland Timber LLC, led by members of the Davis family. England, Thims & Miller Inc. is the civil engineer.
Keith Donnelly, land acquisition manager with David Weekley Homes, said the parcel will be a gated community of 143 homesites that are 50 feet wide and 79 that will be 60 feet wide.
He said the land will be developed as a joint venture between David Weekley Homes and ICI Homes.
Plans filed with the water management district show two recreation areas, one among each of the two phases.
Street names are Aventura Drive and Howland, Hillsong and Beeson courts.
The main entrance is off R.G. Skinner Parkway onto Cypress Bluff Drive. The main road is Aventura Drive.

Chad Munsey and Michael Schmidt of The Bearded Pig announced that their new venture, Rec Room, will open this spring at 1049 Park St. this spring.
The bar and arcade will be designed like a 1970s basement with a 10-seat bar and vintage-style living room area, they said. (Wayne’s World, anyone?)
Rec Room will offer about 18 arcade games along with console games for play in living room area. They will offer vintage cabinet arcade games, pinball and Golden Tee, as well as the console rental.
Construction should start soon and they expect a quick build-out.
They said beer and wine will be available with all beer in bottles and cans that include local, regional and national craft beers, as well as what they say will be “some old standbys.”
Soft drinks will be available as well.

The city approved a permit for tenant build-out for Palmetto Moon in The Markets at Town Center.
Seth Heitzman Construction Inc. is the contractor for the renovations of the 6,400-square-foot building at 4880 Big Island Drive at a cost of 400,000.
The Charleston, South Carolina-based lifestyle chain will open in in the former Suite space.
Palmetto Moon said in January it would open the Jacksonville store March 16 and it will be the second in Florida.
It also operates in Tanger Outlets in Daytona Beach. Palmetto Moon said it has three stores under construction in the Southeast.
In addition to Jacksonville, it is building in Dawsonville, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina. The three are projected to open between February and March. Palmetto Moon operates 15 stores in four Southern states.
The Jacksonville store will feature clothing, footwear, accessories, décor and gifts that reflect life in the South.
It will offer brands that include Vineyard Vines, Simply Southern, Yeti, Costa, Southern Marsh, Fish Hippie and more.
