The city is reviewing plans for Orange Park Medical Center to build a free-standing emergency department called Park North at 5773 Normandy Blvd. in West Jacksonville.
No contractor is listed for the 10,860-square-foot project shown at a construction cost of $6.5 million.
It will operate as a department of Orange Park Medical Center.
Plans show the facility is a free-standing emergency department with treatment rooms, a waiting area, lab, imaging department, nurse station and other spaces.
It will offer two covered entry canopies — one for emergency vehicles and one for the public to drop off patients.
Orange Park Medical Center, based in Clay County, announced Jan. 16 that it bought 1.96 acres for $1.35 million in West Jacksonville for the $12 million project.
It said it expected to break ground this spring and be completed and open in the fall.
“We know that when people experience emergencies they’re looking for fast, high-quality and convenient care. By bringing an ER to the Normandy area we will be able to meet the community’s growing need with the same high level of care that we offer in our main emergency room,” said Steven Goodfriend, Orange Park Medical Center’s Emergency Services medical director.
The 10-bed emergency room will be built east of the Lane Avenue and Normandy Boulevard intersection.
It will add 50 staff members to the Orange Park Medical Center health system.
The facility will be the second free-standing emergency room for Orange Park Medical Center. Park West ER is along 103rd Street just east of Interstate 295 in West Jacksonville and the health center said it treated more patients than any other free-standing emergency room in the Jacksonville area in 2017, caring for more than 50,000 patients.
It expanded the space by 3,100 square foot and eight patient rooms in May.
Orange Park Medical Center said the ER will be open 24 hours a day, offer around-the-clock radiology services and be staffed by a team of board-certified emergency physicians, nurses and staff, trained to treat both adults and children.
The city and the St. Johns River Water Management District are reviewing plans for the shell and core of the four-story, 125,769-square-foot Southside Quarter office building proposed on 7.75 acres at 6651 Gate Parkway.
Houston-based Hines owns the property and intends to build the structure for lease to McKesson Corp.
San Francisco-based McKesson agreed to lease the entire building, planned at southwest Interstate 295 and Butler Boulevard.
Hines said in January that site work will start in the spring. McKesson spokeswoman Kristin Hunter Chasen said in January the company intends to move into the building in mid-2019 and it will relocate 428 employees from its Southpoint Boulevard leased offices.
City Council adopted a resolution in August for a $700,000 Recapture Enhanced Value grant for the project, known then as the code-named Project Milan.
It is the first of two office buildings planned at Southside Quarter.
The city OK’d renovations for Florida Blue’s Building 400 at 4800 Deerwood Campus Parkway.
Danis Builders LLC is the contractor for the $6.33 million renovation of the six-story, 68,250-square-foot building. It’s the second of five buildings that the Jacksonville-based insurer intends to upgrade at its Deerwood Park campus.
A spokeswoman said in May the insurer is upgrading its 20-year-old Deerwood Campus complex to include mechanical, electrical, plumbing and interior feature improvements.
Of the seven buildings on its campus, three opened in 1996, two in 1998 and two more plus a conference center and four-story parking garage in 2008.
The 1.3 million square feet of space was developed on 115 acres.

Its Facebook page says Catullo’s Italian is a food truck owned and operated by brothers Carl and Dave Catullo The truck offers handmade pastas, sauces, sandwiches, pizzas, roll-ups and other Italian specialties. Broadwell Builders Inc. is the contractor.
• Build-out was approved for Salsas Mexican Restaurant in Collins Plaza at 7083 Collins Road, No. 106. Kinnecorps LLC is the contractor for the $260,000 renovation of 3,776 square feet of tenant space.
