Colliers International Northeast Florida is relocating from one Downtown tower to another just a block south.
Colliers International will move into the Downtown SunTrust Tower from the Bank of America Tower. It represents both high-rises as the leasing agent.
“Moving allows us to pick up a little more space, improve the layout and completely overhaul the look and feel of our space without skipping a beat operationally,” said Christian Oldenburg, managing director of the Colliers International Northeast Florida office.
He said Monday that 50 people will make the move, which is expected in August.
Colliers International will move from Suite 1725 in the 42-floor Bank of America Tower at 50 N. Laura St. to the 15th floor at the 23-story SunTrust Tower at 76 S. Laura St.
Dav-Lin Interior Contractors is building-out almost 8,500 square feet of space for Colliers International at a construction cost of $392,343. The city issued the permit Friday.
Oldenburg said he could not disclose how much the company is investing in the move but that it exceeds the building renovation costs.
He said the move was less about getting more space and more about better space, allowing it to occupy a more open rectangular space.
“We felt that SunTrust would give us more synergy with the entire team sitting more or less in one space,” Oldenburg said.
Colliers International moved to the Bank of America Tower in mid-2012, leasing 8,706 square feet of space on a multiyear lease.
Property manager Sally Lockett with building owner Hertz Investment Group said Colliers International’s lease expires Sept. 30.
And it moved there from its longtime offices in the 35-story Wells Fargo Center, originally the Independent Life Building.
Mainstreet Capital Partners, a Fort Lauderdale-based real estate investment company, paid $31.1 million in March 2015 for SunTrust Tower.
Mainstreet CV 76 S. Laura St. LLC bought the Northbank property from six owners.
