The St. Johns Builders Council awarded a scholarship to two local students with an interest in construction-related education.
Rachel Caccamise of Creekside High School received $1,000 to pursue a degree in civil engineering. She was involved in the engineering academy and is planning to attend the University of Central Florida. She has been a volunteer on several ramp-build projects.
Emmie Edgar of Pedro Menendez High School received $1,000 to help further her education in construction. She plans to attend St. Johns River State College for two years, and then enroll in the construction management or engineering program at the University of North Florida. While in high school, she has been involved in her school’s Academy of Architectural and Building Sciences, and she worked part-time at the St. Johns Housing Partnership to help prepare her for the future.
“The builders are known for their interest in helping young people prepare for careers in the building industry,” said SJBC Director Leona Brown. “We have the opportunity to work side-by-side with students from local high schools who have expressed an interest in higher education, and it gives us a lot of satisfaction when we can present scholarships to students like Rachel and Emmie. Congratulations to both of them.”
