Signs for TIAA Bank are expected to be up by midyear at EverBank’s headquarters in Riverside.
The city Building Inspection Division issued six permits Monday for wall signs for TIAA Bank at 501 Riverside Ave. Those will replace the EverBank name.
Bank spokeswoman Tori Pappas said Tuesday the company expects all the building and financial center signs to be completed by midyear.
Signs are going up on the building’s four sides and two will be on the first floor.
Jacksonville-based EverBank Financial Corp. is becoming TIAA Bank after its merger with TIAA Direct.
Pappas said work will start in the next few weeks on the Riverside building.
Taking down the existing signs, repairing marks on the building walls and installing the new signs will take eight to 10 weeks, she said.
Pappas said the process is dependent on the weather. All the proposed sign changes require the bank to obtain permits, prepare architectural and engineering plans, get owner approvals and make repairs.
“The work is already underway across our franchise. Sign fabrication also is underway,” Pappas said by email.
She said the final installation should be about May and the work completed by midyear.
The signage will feature a new logo and lettering, exchanging the red and black used in the current signs for different shades of blue.
Ferrin Signs Inc. in West Palm Beach is the contractor for the sign permits at the Riverside headquarters. The job costs total $176,520
The four higher signs are 5 feet 5 inches high by 32 feet and 9 inches wide and will be backlit inside the letters, according to the city plans.
The smaller signs on the first floor are about 1 foot high by almost 7 feet wide.
Signs at EverBank branches are on the same time frame, Pappas said. Those signs vary in the types of construction and mounting and are being scheduled individually.
Now called EverBank Plaza, the 13-story building was developed in 2007 and includes other office tenants. Pappas said a decision has not been finalized about renaming it TIAA Bank Plaza.
“We are working closely with the landlords and building owners,” she said.
On Tuesday, the city issued permits to Heritage Signs to install TIAA Bank signs on EverBank offices at 9822 Tapestry Park Circle in Tapestry Park; at 7749 Normandy Blvd. in Normandy Crossing; and at 10400 San Jose Blvd.
The name also will be changed on the 30-story EverBank Center at 301 W. Bay St. Downtown, where the bank leases space for operations. The Downtown Development Review Board approved that change Feb. 15, although the actual name was not on the plans.
TIAA announced the name change Feb. 16.
The change from EverBank Field to TIAA Bank Field on the city’s NFL stadium is subject to league and City Council approval.
No contractor has been identified for the signs on the tower or the stadium.
TIAA Direct, previously known as TIAA-CREF Trust Co., FSB, is headquartered in St. Louis. The bank’s legal name will continue to be TIAA, FSB.
Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America bought EverBank in June for $2.5 billion or $19.50 per share.
