Florida Coastal School of Law’s Moot Court Team is ranked No. 10 in the U.S., according to the University of Houston Law Center’s national ranking released Monday.
The survey and evaluation uses a scoring method that considers the number of competitions entered, quality of the competition in which schools participate, size of the competition and the team's performance. Additional points are awarded for best brief and best speaker awards at each competition.
In the 2017-18 academic year, Florida Coastal entered five moot court competitions and won championships at the E. Earle Zehmer National Moot Court Worker’s Compensation in Orlando, the National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare & Adoption Law in Columbus, Ohio, the Domenick L. Gabrielli Family Law Moot Court Competition in Albany, New York and the Leroy R. Hassell Sr. National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Florida Coastal has established its tradition in moot court competition.
The school achieved consecutive No. 1 rankings from 2013 to 2015 and in 2016, The National Jurist magazine ranked Florida Coastal third-best in the nation over the previous decade.
