Gov. Rick Scott has directed the 4th Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission to convene to select candidates to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Circuit Judge Robert Foster in Nassau County.
Scott advised that he must have a list of six qualified candidates submitted to his office by no later than June 22.
Commission Chair Patrick Kilbane said that 5 p.m. May 23 is the deadline for attorneys to apply for consideration.
The application is available at floridabar.gov and at flgov.com.
Completed applications must be delivered to Kilbane's attention at 1540 The Greens Way, Jacksonville Beach, 32250; and a PDF version must be emailed to [email protected] before the deadline.
The commission will convene to interview candidates at 9 a.m. June 11 in Chief Judge Mark Mahon's chambers at the Duval County Courthouse.
Proceedings are open to the public with the exception of deliberations. Â Accordingly, candidates should not expect their application to be kept confidential, Kilbane said.
