Chick-fil-A intends to renovate its Tinseltown restaurant as a brand-image remodel — and it will be the first of many.
Spokeswoman Callie Bowers said the restaurant will close in early fall for four weeks for the renovation.
“It is being remodeled to comply with our current brand image standards and to improve the guest and team member experiences,” she said by email.
Bowers said previously the kitchen would be remodeled with the newest design reflecting the highest capacity and a dining room with the newest design.
A second drive-thru lane will be added with covered canopies.
The $568,000 project will include interior and exterior work, including creating a dual-line kitchen and adding another drive-through lane.
Interior renovations include flooring, painting and replacing tables and chairs, among other elements. Plans show it offers 128 seats.
The almost 4,300-square-foot restaurant was built in 2000 at 4461 Southside Blvd. Amstin LLC of Lutz bought it in 2009 from the original developer, TSB I Inc., led by Thomas Beeckler.
Bowers said Chick-fil-A plans to remodel two to three Jacksonville-area locations each year for the next five years as part of its long-term reinvestment strategy.
A final list is not available, but Bowers said restaurants are prioritized based on real estate strategy, age, building prototype, “capacity solutions” and sales volume.
Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A operates about 15 locations in Northeast Florida. The chain closes its stores on Sunday.
In December, the Tampa Bay Times reported a St. Petersburg Chick-fil-A reopened after being closed for six weeks for renovations. The remodeled restaurant features two drive-through lanes and an enhanced kitchen that will allow for more catering, it said.
Bowers said the kitchen reconfiguration allows for more efficient service with a priority on food safety.
“The drive-thru reconfiguration will increase speed of transaction and capacity throughput while delivering face-to-face service between team members and guests,” she said.
McDonald’s will renovate two more restaurants in Southside and Westside. McDonald’s USA LLC plans $300,000 renovations to its stores at 3143 Emerson St. and 7359 103rd St. Work includes interior and exterior work; roof alterations; and bathroom upgrades to meet ADA standards.
