Before the restaurant closed down this week, BlackFinn Ameripub in The Markets at Town Center was fighting a foreclosure lawsuit.

The suit was filed in Duval County Circuit Court in April by North Carolina-based First Citizens Bank & Trust Co. against BlackFinn Jax LLC and several other defendants.

According to the lawsuit, First Citizens holds a promissory note on a $1.666 million loan made in 2010 through the U.S. Small Business Administration.

First Citizens alleges BlackFinn Jax defaulted on the loan in February and owes $672,377 plus interest and late charges.

BlackFinn Jax is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to filings with the Florida Secretary of State’s office.

According to a defense filed by the company in June, BlackFinn Jax denied it was in default on the loan.

The docket for the case shows the foreclosure lawsuit is ongoing without resolution.

BlackFinn Ameripub opened in 2010 at 4840 Big Island Drive in The Markets at St. Johns Town Center.
