For the sixth consecutive year, members of the JAX Chamber and Mayor Lenny Curry’s administration will attend a week of meetings and events in the United Kingdom before the Jacksonville Jaguars face the Philadelphia Eagles at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
Curry and Kirk Wendland, director of the Office of Economic Development, will join the group in London.
“Since the addition of the Jaguars London game, each city of Jacksonville mayor has traveled with the Duval delegation of City officials and business leaders,” city spokeswoman Tia Ford said in a statement.
Ford said Curry will depart Monday evening “to lead and participate in economic development meetings, events, and activities to build and strengthen economic partnerships for Jacksonville,” she said.
“These efforts have brought international business and expansions to Jacksonville,” she said.
Ford said Wendland is the only other city employee attending in his official capacity.
A Jaguars spokesperson directed questions about business recruitment efforts or programming to JAX Chamber staff. The chamber declined to say which companies the group plans to meet during the trip.
According to an itinerary from JAX Chamber, the delegation is scheduled to meet with five unnamed companies in sessions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The group tours the Port of Bristol and will meet with business leaders Wednesday before returning to London that afternoon.
Thursday’s schedule shows another company meeting, followed by a tour of Parliament. The day continues with a briefing on trade opportunities and Brexit negotiations at the Adam Smith Institute in London.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan will meet with the Jacksonville delegation Friday morning before the group embarks on a tour of Barclays FinTech Accelerator, a 13-week program for entrepreneurs focused on creating financial technology.
At lunch Friday, the group will meet with the UK Department of Trade. The night concludes with a reception at 10 p.m.
Saturday morning begins with brunch on Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s yacht, the Kismet.
The delegation plans to attend a match between Khan’s other football team, Fulham Football Club, and AFC Bournemouth Football Club at 3 p.m. at Craven Cottage.
The Jaguars game against the Eagles is 2:30 p.m. London time. That’s 9:30 a.m. in Jacksonville.
After the game, the Jacksonville group will fly home at 9 p.m., arriving Monday at 1:15 a.m.
