Retail Notes: Circle K adding stores in St. Johns, Nassau; Publix renovations

Part of Burlington to become a Ross in Old St. Augustine Plaza; 5.11 Tactical approved for build-out

Circle K is adding three stores – two in St. Johns County and one in Nassau.

St. Johns County is reviewing plans for two Circle K gas stations and convenience stores.

The county is reviewing a rezoning request for 1.68 acres at 215 Florida 16.

The county also is reviewing an application for Circle K to build a 5,200-square-foot store at southeast St. Johns Parkway and Race Track Road.

In Nassau County, Circle K is looking at a location at northwest Florida A1A and Gene Lasserre Boulevard. 

Rimrock Lasserre LLC is the developer of the 6.09-acre site, which comprises two outlots, of which one will be Circle K.

Publix in Arlington, Deerwood

Publix Super Markets  Inc. is renovating two stores at a total cost of almost $1.8 million. The city issued permits Monday for Elkins Construction LLC to renovate the 54,645-square-foot store at 7117 Merrill Road in Arlington at a cost of $874,409 and the 44,271-square-store at 4320 Deerwood Lake Parkway at $884,882.

The Arlington Publix at Dames Pointe was built in 1975 as an Albertsons and has been occupied by Publix for more than a decade. The Deerwood store at Deerwood Lake Commons was built in 2003.

Publix has renovated those stores before and regularly remodels and upgrades its properties.

Burlington/Ross in Mandarin

Regency Centers wants to redevelop part of the Burlington Coat Factory in Old St. Augustine Plaza into Ross Dress for Less. Plans show the 27,955-square-foot store is part of the 23-acre Old St. Augustine Plaza at 11250 Old St. Augustine Road. As previously reported, Burlington Stores Inc. intends to downsize and remodel its Mandarin store.

The city is reviewing a permit for a $745,000 renovation that involves reducing the space used by Burlington, Landlord Regency Centers Corp. will take back the remaining space for another tenant use.

The work for Burlington includes new finishes, a reconfigured lighting layout from salvaged fixtures, new fitting rooms and new checkout counters. The St. Johns River Water Management District also is reviewing the project.

5.11 Tactical at Town Center

The 5.11 Tactical store was approved for build-out in 4,000 square feet at 4600 Tropea Way in Town Center Promenade. Heartland Retail Construction Inc. of Racine, Wisconsin, is the contractor for the $200,000 project.

California-based 5.11 Tactical “makes innovative tactical apparel and gear designed for those who engage in the toughest missions.”

Its gear includes jackets, boots, caps, backpacks, fitness items, shirts, watches, accessories, knives, tools and more for men and women.
